Staff Sergeant Keith Ethridge served in the Army Air Corp from February, 1944 to May, 1946. He trained to be a pilot but failed the visual test. He then trained to be a bombardier on the B-17 Aircraft. He was stationed at Greensboro, North Carolina when the Nazis surrendered and a short time later, after the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan surrendered and the Armed Forces began discharging troops.
Staff Sgt. Ethridge was transferred to the Military Police and sent to Pauling, New York to serve out the remainder of his enlistment. He was discharged on May 26, 1946.
