Gestures of Patriotism

Gestures of patriotism are revealed to us each day.

Gestures of patriotism are revealed to us each day.  Not all patriotic acts are majestic displays but subtle touches that are proudly displayed.  Have you noticed the flags that wave each day in your neighbors yards or faithfully displayed at your local businesses?  Magnetic signs adorn the bumpers of vehicle after vehicles, which pass you by, proudly displaying a simple reminder to Support Our Troops.  Flags adorn many centerpieces on the desks top of business men and women, a gentle reminder of their patriotic love for our country.

Acts of patriotism were seen across the State of Oklahoma as donations flooded in to provide bus transportation for our service personnel to come home for the holidays.  Kind gestures were displayed at the airports across our great state welcoming our troop’s home.  Handshakes, kind words of thanks, welcome home signs and smiles greeted our soldiers as they stepped off the plane.

To some this may not seem like much, but to this mom of a serviceman, it made me proud.  It brought to mind that we need to remember it’s the little subtle things that add up and make the greatest impact.

As you go through each day, open your eyes and notice all the subtle things that are done by others.  Think about what you can do to support our troops.  Take advantage of programs offered to send a special card or letter to a soldier that might need to hear words of encouragement.  Add your name to prayers chain or sign up to help support those who are left behind.  Remember it’s the simple subtle simple things we can do that will impact others lives.
